| Dr. Amaka Opute is an adjunct assistant professor of internal medicine in the division of geriatric medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She plays an active role in clinical education, teaching resident physicians, nurses, and advanced practice nursing students, and leading interdisciplinary care rounds. A board-certified adult acute care nurse practitioner with over 13 years of experience, she holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her clinical focus is on the perioperative care of older adults, with research interests in delirium, polypharmacy, frailty, and surgical outcomes. Dr. Opute also serves as an ambassador for Texas Nurse Practitioners and is active in several national geriatric and nursing organizations. |
