David B. Carr MD

Dr. David Carr is an Associate Professor in the Department Medicine and Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a board certified internist and geriatrician, and completed his fellowship training in geriatrics at Duke University in 1990. Dr. Carr accepted a position as clinical Director in the Division of Geriatric and Nutritional Science at Washington University in 1994. He has been a clinician in the Memory and Aging project in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center for the past 15 years. He is the director of the geriatric fellowship program, which educates general internal medicine physicians for the careers in geriatric medicine. He is Medical Director of Pare Provence, a long-term care facility for dementia in the greater St. Louis area. Dr. Carr is Medical Directory of The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, and 80-bed impatient rehabilitation hospital affiliated with Barnes Hospital and Washington University. He has assisted in the development and operations of the Driving Connections Clinic at the Rehab Institute, which opened in January 2008. Dr. Carr maintains an outpatient consultive practice in the Memory Diagnostic Center in the Department of Neurology. His research interests are in the medical conditions that affect driving, and especially issues of assessing driving safety and retirement in older drivers.
