Dr. Heather Zinzella Cox is currently a medical director for Optum Care Plus/United HealthGroup for the Delaware and Pennsylvania region. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, and completed her family medicine residency at Christiana Care Health Systems in Wilmington, DE. She is board-certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine. She is also a certified medical director with 10 years experience in long-term care medicine. She also serves as associate medical director for Compassionate Care Hospice. She is active with Society of Hospital Medicine, serving as the vice-chair for its post-acute care committee, where she is working on helping bridge the gap and ensure safer transitions between acute care hospitals and post-acute care facilities.
