Dr. Heather Quaile is a double board-certified, women’s health nurse practitioner and advanced forensic nurse with specialty training in female sexual medicine and vulvoscopy from San Diego Sexual Medicine. She has focused her training specifically in integrative gynecology to include menopause, female sexual dysfunction, sexuality and cancer, sex and pregnancy, and integrative/functional medicine. Dr. Quaile is also trained as a sexual assault nurse examiner and an AASECT certified sex counselor, providing sexual health education, information and personalized counseling to patients of all ages. Dr. Quaile has been working in women’s healthcare for over 21 years caring for women of all ages across the health-illness continuum. Her expertise includes peri/menopausal concerns, pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, low libido in women, interstitial cystitis, effects of cancer and cancer treatments on sexuality, pregnancy/ postpartum sexuality, and female sexual health. Dr. Quaile earned her undergraduate degrees in psychology from Loyola University in Maryland and her second bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, her master of science in nursing with honors degree with a specialty in women’s health from Vanderbilt University, her DNP degree from Chatham University. She has been a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH) since 2008. She gained designation as a fellow of ISSWSH and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Sexual Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She serves as treasurer on the board of directors and is a journal reviewer for the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH). She also serves as a planning committee member for the annual NPWH/ISSWSH Sexual Health and Vulvoscopy Course for Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Quaile maintains an adjunct faculty position at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
