Hiboombe Haamankuli DNP, MSN, ACNP-BC

Dr. Hiboombe Haamankuli is an instructor and co-specialty track coordinator for the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Nursing. With 14 years of experience as an acute care nurse practitioner, he has treated various acute and chronic conditions, including prostate cancer. His interest in prostate cancer was further heightened by his father's diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2019, and he is now actively involved in ongoing education and awareness efforts through collaboration with the O'Neal Cancer Treatment Center as a community advisor for the "Hey Fellas" program. Within his community of Birmingham Alabama, he provides prostate cancer awareness talks to men in barber shops, churches, and other community events, recognizing the importance of meeting people where they are to address healthcare disparities. As a scholar, he is engaged in speaking events at national conferences on men's health topics, including prostate cancer. In the fall of 2024, he will begin his PhD studies, focusing on social determinants of health and cultural influences on prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survival in minority men. Dr. Haamankuli is passionate about addressing healthcare disparities and improving patient outcomes through culturally sensitive care and education.
