Johnnie A. Yates MD

Dr. Johnnie A. Yates was born in Yokosuka, Japan, and raised in California. He completed the majority of his medical education and training in Connecticut and worked in Kathmandu, Nepal, for 1.5 years. As a family physician who is also board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Yates has an interest in working with vulnerable and underserved populations. His current practice is limited to patients who are in long-term care facilities or who are homebound due to their medical problems. He also helps with palliative care consultations for patients who have life-limiting medical conditions. He has additional training and expertise in travel and tropical medicine and is involved with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG)’s travel medicine service, which provides counseling to travelers to developing countries.
