Dr. Judith Barberio is a clinical associate professor in the Division of Nursing Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her practice areas include pain management, addictions, palliative care, gerontology, and HIV. She holds board certifications as an adult and geriatric nurse practitioner and in pain management. She holds certificates in homeopathy and palliative care and completed a post-doctoral executive fellowship in addiction medicine. Dr. Barberio is an ELNEC trainer and board member and treasurer of the NJ Palliative Care APN Consortium. She has been instrumental in introducing the ELNEC core concepts throughout NJ, visiting RNs from China and serving as part of a global initiative to introduce the ELNEC program concepts in India. In 2020, she received the End-of-Life Nursing Consortium (ELNEC) Excellence Award and Rutgers University Award for Health Care Excellence. Dr. Barberio is also a board member for the NJ Drug Utilization Review Board. She maintains a pain management and addictions practice in an inner-city outpatient HIV center working with an adult and geriatric population with acute and chronic pain, many with palliative needs and addiction issues.
