Dr. Karyn Nicholson is a clinical informatics specialist working for Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore, Maryland, since 2013. She is a current member of the Office of Population Health's analytics and evaluation team. Dr. Nicholson earned a doctorate in nursing practice degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in December 2020. In her current role, she is a consultant/liaison between the population healthcare stakeholders to support health information technology use. In her 32 years in nursing, she has worked in staff, training, quality, and leadership roles within population health and the hospital setting. She is actively involved in American Medical Informatics Association, American Nursing Informatics Association, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, and the American Nursing Association. She has experience in nursing informatics, population health, care management, and health innovations in healthcare delivery and is interested in learning and developing to promote patient-centered healthcare and advancing nursing practice. Her professional passion is to support patients to receive comprehensive coordinated healthcare using the electronic health records and other information technology tools.
