Louann B. Bailey DNP, APRN, FAANP

Louann Bailey is a new presenter for GAPNA but has presented at AANPs national conference over the last several years on various cardiology topics. Louann has also presented internationally, statewide, and locally in Ohio, Michigan, and Utah on multiple cardiology topics. She is here today to discuss her DNP project findings on improving heart failure outcomes in long term care. In the past she has been a featured faculty and presenter for AANPs specialty conferences on numerous cardiology topics for the primary care provider. She has lectured on a wide variety of cardiology topics for well over 25 years.

Her clinical background is critical care with a primary focus on general and interventional cardiology, with an emphasis on heart failure and caring for the older adult. Louann currently is the director of the adult gero-acute care nurse practitioner program at Kent State University. Additionally, she maintains an active clinical practice in cardiology at Northeast Ohio Cardiovascular Specialist in Akron, OH.
Louann is active in her local, state, and national nurse practitioner organizations, working on reimbursement, legislative, and educational initiatives. She currently is the AANP PAC Chairperson.

Louann was awarded the Northeast Ohio Nurse Practitioner Clinical Excellence award twice, the AANP clinical excellence award in 2009, and was inducted as an AANP Fellow in 2011. Louann graduated with her diploma in nursing in 1979 from Akron General Medical Center and a RN-to-masters in nursing administration in 1994 from the University of Akron. She received a post-masters ACNP certificate in 1995 from Kent State University and her DNP from Rush University in April 2014.
