Mary Lee Gates MS, GNP, AHPCN

Mary Lee Gates is an NP in palliative care in skilled nursing facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been providing care for LGBT adults since working in San Francisco in the 1980s during the height of the AIDS epidemic. In addition to her work at Kaiser Permanente, she is the Outreach and Education Director for the Alameda/Contra Costa POLST Coalition and serves on the advisory board for the Conversation Project Pilot in Contra Costa County. She is a devoted advocate for the frail elderly and those with chronic progressive illnesses and consistently seeks to provide those who voices are rarely heard to have a safe space to tell their story and find culturally competent care.
