Dr. Valerie Cotter is an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and a nurse practitioner at the Johns Hopkins Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center. Dr. Cotter's clinical, teaching, research, and service activities focus on supporting palliative care in older adults to promote patient- and family-centered outcomes by improving the quality of care for persons with dementia. As a clinician scholar and influential national leader in nursing, she has directly contributed to the preparation and expansion of a more knowledgeable, skilled, and competent workforce of healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines who are now providing care for older adults throughout the United States and abroad.
