I found this talk to be very informative. I have worked in a clinic setting with a pain management APRN. Her knowledge base of pain management was immense, and she was constantly evolving. I feel the older population is often overlooked with their medication management, but I do see more and more nursing homes, assisted living facilities and pharmacists taking an active role in med management- especially with pain meds, benzodiazepines, sleeping meds, etc. I also liked the plan of engaging the patient to get to know more about what is going on with them- more than just a person getting refills.
