The special needs of the geriatric patient with chronic wounds are addressed by the newest advanced dressings and procedures. This session reviews the wound healing process and the barriers to healing seen with increasing age and co-morbidity, and provides promising solutions to these barriers found in the newest advanced dressings, treatments, and procedures. While not all APNs will have access to these advancements, knowing when to consult a specialist can put your patients in the best place for timely healing.
