The APRN Consensus model delineates the adult-gerontology nurse practitioner population foci to be bifurcated further to preparation either as primary or acute care AGNP. In this session, panel members will discuss the implications of the changes mandated by the consensus model. A comparison of the national competencies for adult-gerontology primary care and adult-gerontology acute care will be presented. Specific issues related to caring for patients across the continuum of care and the implications of treating long-term care patients in place will be considered. Finally, preliminary data from the GAPNA survey, specifically the prevalence of advanced practice nurses managing the care of older adults performing advanced clinical skills, will be presented.
