Michele Hartge is a licensed practical nurse who also holds a bachelor's degree in health information management from the University of Cincinnati. She holds the certified coding specialist and registered health information administrator credentials from AHIMA. Michele has 29 years of experience in healthcare and has held positions in oncology nursing, geriatric nursing, utilization review, case management, quality management, and health information management, with a specialty in risk adjustment coding and documentation improvement. Presently she is the clinical manager of the coding documentation improvement team at Optum. She is responsible for operational management of the coding team and for coding and documentation improvement education for coders and providers.
