Dr. Maureen Beck is a gerontological nurse practitioner and assistant professor at the McGovern Medical School in Houston. After graduating from Duke University, her focus was pre- and post-cardiothoracic care and intensive care. After moving to Texas, she became an ICU head nurse. In 1992, she earned a master of science degree in nursing as a gerontological nurse practitioner and provided primary care in a geriatric assessment center and house call program. She assisted in the training of family practice residents and nurse practitioner students. Dr. Beck participated in the White House Conference on Aging appointed by the Governor of Texas in 1995. In 2009, she joined the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. She assisted in the planning and opening of the Center for Healthy Aging. Today she provides primary care at the center and through the house calls program. She has been a member of GAPNA since 1991.
