Dr. Kala Blakely is an adult nurse practitioner. Her practice initiatives focus on providing women's health and primary care to those in rural Alabama. Dr. Blakely's faculty practice is her motivation for scholarship. She has opened and maintained a nurse practitioner-led clinic in rural Alabama that has provided healthcare for thousands of patients since its opening in 2014. She is an assistant professor and the coordinator of the adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner specialty track at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. In addition, she is the president for the UAB School of Nursing alumni chapter, sits on the board of directors for the Alabama Rural Health Association, serves on the research committee for the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, and is a member of the GAPNA education committee.
