Dr. Mariya Kovavela is a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she has continued her research in transitional and post-acute care for persons living with dementia and ways to support caregivers during these transitions. Dr. Kovaleva graduated summa cum laude from Bethel University with a BSN degree in 2014, and she received her PhD in nursing from Emory University in 2018. She was a Laney Graduate Fellow at Emory University. While working on her dissertation, she completed the program for the adult-gerontological primary care nurse practitioner post-master's certificate, and she is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Dr. Kovaleva is a recipient of a 2019 Center for Nursing Advancement: United Health Group Award from GAPNA.
