Margaret Hammersla MS, CRNP

Margaret Hammersla is an Assistant Professor at the University Of Maryland School Of Nursing and an Adult Nurse Practitioner whose clinical practice focuses on the physical and mental health care needs of older adults with dementia. As a Nurse Educator within the Copper Ridge Institute, she designed and taught classes on dementia to staff from a variety of long term care facilities including nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses, social workers, and nursing assistants actively engaged in dementia care. For the past 4 years Ms. Hammersla has worked as a faculty at the University of Maryland School of Nursing teaching primarily in the Adult - Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program. As part of her faculty role, she mentors new preceptors and faculty on teaching strategies consistent with adult leaning theory. Ms. Hammersla is also active in several ongoing research projects investigating interventions to improve function in older adults.
