Dr. Cathy Brown is a registered nurse with 37 years of experience, 26 of those years as a gerontological clinical nurse specialist. Cathy started her career in the acute care setting working in orthopedic and neuro ICU. After becoming a CNS, Dr. Brown moved to the ambulatory care setting, where she has specialized in quality and process improvement for patients in multiple outpatient settings. Dr. Brown is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas, Arlington, College of Nursing and Health Innovations. She also works with a pain medicine practice monitoring their quality improvement programs for patient safety. She enjoys working with elderly patients in the outpatient setting and helping them remain active. Dr. Brown encourages nurses to be involved with health care policy and serves on GAPNA’s Health Affairs Committee.
