This session provides an update on CMS regulations and surveyor guidance for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). Particular emphasis is placed on the APRN’s role and responsibilities in following these regulations. Topics include, but are not limited to, unnecessary medications and treatments, infection control and antibiotic stewardship, trauma-informed care, freedom from abuse, neglect and exploitation, and physician visits and Conference Program 6 telehealth requirements. This session also will provide a brief discussion of the practice barriers of the APRN in the post-care care/long-term care (PAC/LTC) setting and an update on the progress to remove these barriers.
