020 - Heart Health: Hypertension, Cardiac, and Hypercholesterolemia

A major component of the geriatric nurse practitioner’s role is managing the drug regimens of their patients. This workshop focuses on the heart health of the geriatric patient, including a specific focus on hypertension, dyslipidemia, and dysrhythmias (including use of anticoagulants). Application of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, indications, dosing, and toxicity are discussed. Recent studies and current controversies in the management of these disease states are also shared. Interactive case studies are utilized to apply the concepts discussed above.
