Objectives: 1. Explore treatment approaches and goal-setting for glycemic control for older patients with type 2 diabetes as outlined in the most recent version of the joint American Diabetes Association-European Association for the Study of Diabetes Position Statement. 2. Discuss recently published data demonstrating the potential for GLP1 analogs and DPP IV inhibitors to improve cardiometabolic risk factors (i.e. lipids, BP). 3. Review mechanism of action, effectiveness, and side-effect profile of SGLT2 inhibitors, and new class of agents used for glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
