This presentation focuses on strategies that nurse practitioners can consider that involve engagement with community partners, insurance groups, and other healthcare providers to address food insecurity. The presentation takes the audience through the journey of the speaker's own food prescription program and covers the following: the process of starting a food prescription program, including community-engaged research strategies, partnerships, and funding; an understanding of outcomes that are important to assess to evaluate the impacts of a food Rx program; and an awareness of how food Rx programs can inform a larger plan for addressing social drivers of health.
