The session reviews recent developments in drug treatment of psychiatric and behavioral symptoms in the elderly. Pharmacokinetics, adverse effects, and assessing efficacy are reviewed. Special attention is given to treatment of behavioral symptoms of dementia and recent developments in depressive disorders. The special vulnerability of elderly patients to pharmacologic agents are emphasized.
