Jennifer Serafin is an assistant clinical professor for the department of physiological nursing at the University of California, San Francisco, as well as for Kaiser Permanente in South San Francisco, California, in the Home-Based Palliative Care program. She has been a certified gerontologic nurse practitioner for 20 years. She has experience working with older adults in long-term care/SNF settings and assisted living facilities, as well as in their homes. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a BSN degree in nursing and received her MS degree in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. She is the current chair of the GAPNA Foundation Board of Directors, which awards grants for research and clinical projects. She has also served on the GAPNA Certification Task Force, which has created the Gerontological Specialist Certification Exam for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) as of 2018.
